YouTube Algorithm Hacking: How We Got 20 M+ Views in 2 Months in the News Niche
Task
Client: Kazakhstani news channel
GEO: Kazakhstan + CIS
Goal: channel scaling
Source: YouTube
Duration of work: October 31, 2024 – January 13, 2025, and continues thereafter
Progress of work
- Data Analysis – studied the channel statistics and identified weak points.
- First meeting – discussed strategy and problems, including errors in Shorts.
- Disabling monetization – YouTube blocked revenue due to unoriginal content.
- Analysis of reasons – identified videos that could have caused the blocking.
- Preparing a video for an appeal – wrote a script, analyzed the arguments, and prepared a speaker.
- Filing an appeal – We made a request and sent an explanatory video to YouTube.
- Restoring monetization – a day later, the channel started earning again.
- Content Optimization – made adjustments to avoid “yellow coins”.
- Increase in views and audience – doubled coverage, increased engagement.
- Scaling – expanded the strategy, introduced new format,s and monetization models.
Problem?
Work on the project began with a detailed data analysis. We studied the channel statistics, viewing dynamics, audience engagement, and key performance indicators. Already at the first meeting, our producer noticed serious shortcomings in working with Shorts.
Videos were released in insufficient quantities, there were no links to related content, and basic tags were not included. As a result, videos received too few views, did not appear in recommendations, and brought in almost no income.

There is no money. Period.
On October 30, we held our first team meeting: we got acquainted, discussed strategy, and analyzed the channel’s weak points. Everything seemed to be going according to plan.
But already the next morning. We were in for a surprise. YouTube sent us a notification: “Monetization disabled due to suspicion of non-original content”.

What did we do?
When the channel lost monetization due to unoriginal content, we conducted a detailed analysis of the situation and prepared a clear action plan to restore it.
- Content Analysis — identified all videos that may have violated YouTube’s rules and proposed a strategy for replacing or reworking them.
- We wrote a clear script on how to shoot a video to bring back monetization. This is a message to the YouTube team in which the channel’s creator explains what changes have been made, how content is now created, and why it meets the platform’s requirements.
- Prepared the speaker – we analyzed the tone, arguments, and key points to make the video look convincing. It was important not just to record a standard message, but to convey the idea that the channel had changed its approach.
- Gave recommendations for filming – how to record a video correctly so that it looks professional and inspires confidence: lighting, framing, sound quality, clarity of speech.
- The appeal was filed – uploaded the prepared video and filed a request for review of the decision, indicating what measures were taken to comply with YouTube’s policies.
Result? Within a day after the appeal was considered, monetization was restored. Now the channel continues to operate and bring money to investors.
But our work did not end there…
The robot doesn’t trust us
Another serious problem with the channel is. Automatic video rating.
Automatic video rating — this is when YouTube itself, without human intervention, checks the video and decides whether it can be monetized.
Because of the subject crime stories, YouTube immediately gave the videos a thumbs up“yellow coins”– limited monetization.
Copyright was also a problem – news channels often use third-party videos, and YouTube’s algorithms strictly monitor this.
What did this mean in practice? It was necessary to wait for a manual check, serve appeals, and prove that the content complies with the rules. This took up time and nerves.

And here our recommendations helped. Not without a few tricks, but now the channel no longer receives “yellow coins” automatically. Videos are running self-assessment, which means it is possible to upload content without constant appeals and waiting for manual review.

If YouTube also limits the monetization of your videos, we will help you understand the reasons and find a solution. Leave a request for a consultation – let’s discuss how to fix the situation.
