Target
transfer the audience to the Telegram channel
TA

We proposed a solution: to create an educational project that will help not only to bypass advertising bans, but also to benefit the audience. As part of the project, an educational course designed for both beginners and experienced traders was developed. The main platform for interaction became the Telegram channel, where educational materials, trading signals and insights are published. The channel also offered paid products, the average check of which was from $1200.

Due to the professionalism of the client – his experience includes more than 86% of successful deals in the last 18 months – we emphasized real cases and proven strategies. This approach helped build trust and stand out from the competition.

Task

Client: a trader who trades signals
GEO: North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Central Asia
Target: transfer the audience to the Telegram channel
Traffic source: YouTube ads
TA: English-speaking audience; beginners and experienced traders

Why can’t you promote trading?

Niche trading is considered “gray” for many advertising platforms, even if the business is official and has the necessary licenses. Many educational platforms in this area are trying to launch social media advertising, but they are facing blocks. In addition, the competition in the English-language trading niche is quite high due to the large number of authors working with this audience, especially on YouTube. The YouTube platform itself also has a bias towards content about trading, which can limit views or create additional difficulties.

Clients looking to promote themselves through organic traffic or get sales through YouTube advertising often find traditional methods ineffective. Conventional advertising in this niche practically does not work: in 90% of cases, commercials do not pass moderation or lead to the blocking of the advertising cabinet.

Due to these limitations, content authors in the trading niche are increasingly turning to the formate ducation (a combination of education and entertainment). This approach allows you to create entertaining and educational videos that talk about trading in a native format. For YouTube, this looks like educational content with far fewer moderation requirements.

This content can be successfully run in ads, given the knowledge of the list of “stop words” that cannot be used in the video’s text, title, description or tags in order to avoid detection of the video by Google’s algorithms. As a result, you can create an exciting educational video in the format education, which keeps the audience’s attention. In such videos, three native advertising inserts are placed – at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the video. These inserts tell the audience about the opportunity and direct them to Telegram.

Further engagement of the audience and “warming up” to the purchase of one of the client’s three main products is carried out in Telegram:

  1. Educational courses.
  2. Access to chat with trading signals.
  3. Replenishment of the stock exchange deposit.

This approach allows you to bypass the limitations of advertising platforms and effectively attract customers even in a difficult niche.

Niche analysis and strategy development

The first stage of the work was the determination of the target audience of the project: its interests, behavioral characteristics and regional preferences. We analyzed the demand for educational content in the field of cryptocurrencies, popular formats of interaction and platforms through which the audience most often consumes such content.

The competitive landscape is additionally assessed, including their advertising approaches, weaknesses and strengths, and unique customer positioning opportunities. Based on the collected data, we created a strategy that took into account not only the specifics of the niche, but also the specifics of using Telegram channels as the main communication channel.

Why did we choose a simplified tear?

Working with projects in a “grey niche” such as trading requires taking into account many limitations and risks. The main problem lies in the policies of large platforms such as Google and YouTube, which actively fight against content that can be perceived as financial speculation or a violation of the rules of advertising placement. This often results in account bans, campaign suspensions, or limited reach.

In order to minimize the risks of bans and ensure a stable traffic flow, we decided to simplify the rip as much as possible. The main reasons for this approach are as follows:

  1. Landings in a gray niche as a ban trigger. Landings are often checked by the algorithms of advertising platforms and become the main trigger for a ban.
  2. Quick interaction with the audience. The direction of traffic directly to the Telegram bot or channel allows you to instantly contact the audience without unnecessary steps. This is especially relevant in trending niches, where the speed of decision-making by the user is of critical importance.
  3. Adaptation to the specifics of the gray niche. Projects in the gray niche often work with an audience that is already familiar with the topic and does not need a long warm-up. Telegram, as a platform, allows you to quickly provide the necessary information, including signals, tips and insights, which increases the effectiveness of communication.
  4. Optimization efficiency and flexibility. A Telegram bot or channel allows you to quickly analyze user behavior, measure key indicators and adapt campaigns without stopping traffic. This simplifies the optimization process and allows the client to receive relevant leads at minimal cost.

By simplifying the funnel, we have maintained a balance between compliance with the rules of advertising platforms and the needs of the client, ensuring high campaign effectiveness even in a complex niche.

Traffic

Lead generation was carried out through YouTube advertising. Given the risks of blocking content on the topic of cryptocurrencies and trading, several YouTube channels were used. Traffic was directed to various countries, mainly Tier-1 markets (USA, Canada, Western Europe), which provided the highest efficiency. Additionally, a campaign was launched for Tier-3 regions (Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia), but traffic in these zones was stopped due to low profitability.

Promotion strategy

A set of the most marginal targets, adapted to the selected GEOs, was used for the work. Details are not being released due to NDA. Each creative was tested on a budget of $100-150, after which the results were analyzed and a decision was made to expand to additional GEOs within the same target set.

After mastering the key GEOs, secondary ones were added – individual countries of Western Europe and promising markets of Asia. New target sets were also launched, gradually scaling up the campaign.

Optimization

The main KPI is subscriptions in the client’s Telegram bot. Conducted weekly in-depth analysis of creatives and GEOs, evaluating lead relevance and value. This made it possible to effectively adjust the strategy and optimize campaigns.

Channel promotion results with trading signals

For the period from September 1, 2024 to December 6, 2024, we received the following indicators:

  • Expenses: $36,2 thousand
  • Compare cost per view: $0,22

The top videos provided the highest flow of relevant leads:

The “Audience Retention” graph shows how the percentage of viewers who stayed to watch a video changed over its duration:

На графике “Удержание аудитории” видно, как менялся процент зрителей, которые оставались просматривать видео, на протяжении его длительности:

  • At the beginning of the video (2 seconds), the retention of the audience reaches its peak, about 15%.
  • Then the indicator gradually decreases: to 8% at 4 seconds, and even lower towards the end, about 3% at 9 seconds.

This indicates that the first few seconds were the most engaging for viewers, but retention decreased significantly after that.

Demographic indicators of audience coverage, segmented by age and gender of users:

  • Sex: The schedule is divided into men and women
  • Age: The main part of the audience belongs to the age groups:
    • 25-34 years – the largest coverage.
    • 35-44 years old is the average.
    • 18-24 years and 45+ years have significantly lower coverage.

Data is based on 3% of clicks for which user age and field data were available.
These indicators allow you to understand which audience is most interested in the content, which can be useful for further optimization of advertising campaigns.

The effectiveness of ad impressions, distributed by days of the week and hours of the day:

  • The highest activity is reflected in the evening, mainly between 18:00 and 21:00.
  • During the day, especially in the morning (from 00:00 to 12:00), the efficiency is much lower.
  • Each day of the week shows a stable distribution of impressions, with no clear dominance of a particular day.

This information was used to optimize the schedule of ad servings, focusing budgets on the period of highest performance.

The effectiveness of advertising on different types of devices: phones, tablets and computers:

  • Telephone: 100% of spend and 100% of impressions are on mobile. The average price per click is $0.22.
  • Tablets: There are no costs and impressions on tablets (0%)
  • Computers: Similar to tablets, computers were not used for impressions or spend (0%).

This data indicates that the campaign was fully targeted to mobile users due to their higher activity or relevance in the target audience.
